The Reasons

Why Kindness Currency?

Kindness is something I care about because it is something I truly believe in.

Everyone has a story that is being written. Every step taken is a moment made. The reality is that none of us are promised another step. Life can be changed, interrupted, or ended in an instant. The choices we make matter because our moments matter.

I don’t choose to be kind because I think it will benefit me. In my heart and mind, I know that kindness is part of who I am. That is not arrogance. It is something that was instilled in me by the greatest role model I have ever known—my mother.

She wasn’t tough, nor was she soft. She was simply my mother: compassionate, caring, and an incredible human being. She taught me through her actions that kindness is not something we do occasionally. It is something we become.

So why Kindness Currency?

Because kindness has the power to interrupt the cycle that too often divides us.

Division can lead to anger.
Anger can lead to hate.
Hate can lead to violence.

Then tragedy strikes, and for a brief moment people come together through acts of kindness. But too often that unity is temporary. Too often the kindness is manufactured by circumstances rather than inspired by character.

I believe we should not act kind. We should be kind.

Kindness Currency is built on the hope that every act of genuine kindness helps break that cycle. And when the cycle is broken, perhaps the kindness lasts a little longer each time. Perhaps it spreads a little further. Perhaps it becomes less about reacting to tragedy and more about choosing humanity.

Not because we are expected to be kind.

Not because we are rewarded for being kind.

But because kindness is simply who we are.

Not who we pretend to be.

Glenn Atkins is a songwriter whose music focuses on life, family, kindness, and perspective. His songs are inspired by real-life experiences, growing older, becoming a parent, and trying to understand the world a little better along the way. His goal is to write songs that people don’t just listen to, but think about — songs that mean something, songs that last, and songs people can see themselves in. My thoughts, my words, making songs for us all.

Kindness currency has been in development for most of my life. My intentions were never to use it solely for apparel, but because of the state of our nation, I feel it’s necessary. While the apparel is made of high-quality materials, its value lies in the messages it conveys.

The movement gained momentum in 2020 when We as a country experienced several tragedies that deeply affected me. This inspired me to write two poems, “Don’t Treat Me with Kindness” and “Not All.” I recently transformed these poems into songs that carry profound messages. These songs will soon be available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other music streaming platforms.

The Kindness Currency Brand was created through song lyrics that carry important messages. These songs and others are not primarily intended for entertainment, but rather to convey stories and rekindle hope that we can steer our nation back on course. By pledging allegiance to each other, we can work towards and past the unity and equality we strive to achieve.
